Origin
Where this tale comes from
Often called the Korean Cinderella. Written down around the 1600s, but the oral tale is older. The name "Kongjwi" hints at a hardworking child who carries sacks of beans (kong).

The Cracked Jar
Kongjwi is getting ready for the festival when her stepmother orders her to fill a giant clay jar with water first. But the jar has a crack at its base. What should she do?

Sparrows at the Loom
A great toad sealed the jar's crack. But before the festival, her stepmother gave her another task. Stuck at the loom, Kongjwi sees a flock of sparrows gather. "We'll help you. But what will you give us?"

The Black Ox's Gift
She barely filled the jar with bundles of grass. With no festival clothes, a black ox approaches and speaks slowly: "Shall I bring you a silk hanbok, or will plain hemp do? Which would you prefer?"

A Meeting at the Feast · 👑 The Festival ending
When Kongjwi arrived at the feast, the magistrate had just picked up a lost flower shoe. She slipped it on, and it fit. The magistrate took her hand and walked with her through the petals. The crowd burst into applause.

Kongjwi Home in the Village · 🌾 The Warm Village ending
Nothing remarkable happened at the feast. But on the way home, the toad, the sparrows, and the black ox were waiting at the village gate. Her little cottage glowed warm under the full moon. A peaceful night began among her animal friends.
Our version
What's different in the app
The original ends with Patjwi's punishment and Kongjwi's marriage. Our version keeps the festival ending, but also offers a quieter one — a warm life in the village with her animal friends.
원작은 팥쥐의 못된 결말과 사또와의 결혼이 핵심이에요. 우리 버전은 결혼 결말과 더불어, 마을에서 짐승 친구들과 살아가는 따뜻한 결말도 골라요.
